Rooted in Politics is dedicated to making politics personal and relevant by unpacking the systems and decisions that shape our lives. We aim to build a community that thinks critically about social and political issues and takes informed civic action.
We envision a society where everyone is equipped with true political literacy to better understand the world and shape our future. We’re guided every day by our commitment to accessibility, authenticity, boldness, community, creativity, and integrity.
ABOUT CHRIS
I’m Chris Fluellen, creator and host of Rooted in Politics. As a senior journalism major at Hampton University, I’m passionate about advocacy through communication, keeping my community informed, and challenging the status quo.
I created Rooted in Politics to explore the political and social issues shaping our world and to remind everyone that every voice has power. These are challenging times, so building community, educating one another, and calling attention to what matters is more important now than ever.
I’m a proud Detroit native who loves music, rollercoasters, nature, trying new foods, and embracing new experiences. I’m also a little too invested in self-discovery tools (Gemini stellium and INTP, if you must know). When I’m not behind the mic, I serve as an executive producer for my school’s newscast and work as a brand public relations intern.
