BEYOND THE BULLET

BEYOND THE BULLET

INSIDE MY SENIOR CAPSTONE

As someone whose life has been impacted by gun violence, I’ve understood the weight and urgency of the issue for a while.  I’ve also noticed a gap in media coverage: while the problem itself is widely reported, the solutions often receive far less attention. This observation led me to question not only whether effective solutions exist, but also what they look like in practice. Through this work, I found that gun violence survivors are central to both preventing violence and supporting healing beyond the bullet.

Beyond the Bullet: The Doc

This documentary explores why survivors are at the center of efforts to address gun violence and what rehabilitation, intervention and prevention look like in practice. Through their lived experiences, it examines how those most impacted are leading the work to rebuild lives and break cycles of violence.

The Politics of Prevention

In this podcast episode, I explore how gun violence survivors in Virginia feel about the politics that shape prevention and intervention efforts. I also examine how policy decisions around funding and legislation affect their sense of support and justice.
